Effective: March 4, 2026
This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We believe in being straightforward about how your information is handled.
1. Data We Collect
We collect the following information to provide and improve our service:
- Account information — email address and phone number for login and notifications
- Location — city, barangay, or GPS-level location depending on the feature, for local news relevance
- Reading preferences — topics and sources you interact with, to improve recommendations
- Usage data — how you navigate the app, to identify issues and improve performance
- Device information — browser type, operating system, and screen size for compatibility
- IP address — collected automatically for security, fraud prevention, and approximate geolocation
2. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used to:
- Deliver news relevant to your location and interests
- Personalize your feed using AI-powered recommendations
- Send notifications and email digests you have opted into
- Identify and fix bugs, errors, and performance issues
- Understand how the product is used so we can improve it
We do not sell your data to third parties. AI-powered recommendations do not produce decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you — they only influence the order and selection of news content in your feed.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act (RA 10173), we process your personal information on the following bases:
- Consent — which you provide when you create an account and agree to our terms
- Contract — performance of our service agreement with you
- Legitimate interest — improving our platform and preventing fraud
- Legal obligation — compliance with applicable Philippine law
4. How We Protect Your Data
No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information:
- Data encrypted in transit via HTTPS/TLS
- Passwords hashed and salted using industry-standard algorithms

- File a complaint — lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission (NPC) at privacy.gov.ph
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].
6. Children and Minors
We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Users aged 13 to 17 must have parental consent as described in our Terms of Service. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

- The content you submit — text, photos, videos, and attachments

- Published reports are retained as part of our news archive
- Unpublished drafts are automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity
- When you delete your account, personal data is removed from active systems within 30 days; backup copies are purged within 90 days. Published content may remain in the news archive.
- You can request deletion of specific content — we will remove it from active feeds within 72 hours
10. Cross-Border Data Transfers
Your data is transferred to and stored on servers in the United States. Under RA 10173 and NPC Circular 16-07, we rely on your consent and contractual necessity as the legal basis for this transfer.
We maintain data processing agreements with our cloud infrastructure providers and apply encryption and access controls to safeguard your data during transfer and storage. You have the right to object to this cross-border transfer by contacting us.
11. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may process your data:
- Cloud hosting — our infrastructure is hosted on Railway (United States). Data processing agreements are in place.
- Error monitoring — Sentry (United States) receives error logs, which may include IP addresses and session metadata
- Authentication — if you sign in with Google, we receive your email, display name, and profile image. Google processes your authentication data according to their privacy policy.
- AI and ML services — we use machine learning for content recommendation and processing
12. Cookies & Local Storage
We use browser local storage to save your preferences and authentication state. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. Our error monitoring tools may store minimal session data in the browser.
13. Data Breach Notification
In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected users and the National Privacy Commission within 72 hours of discovery, consistent with NPC Circular 16-03. Notifications will be sent via email and, where possible, through the app.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you at least 14 days in advance through the app or by email. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
